Newark, NJ – Student residents of Newark’s Summer Employment Plan were given ample support by prominent personalities and organizations in the city, which was spearheaded by Kevin Seawright, CFO of the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation (Newark CEDC).
The Summer Employment Plan (SEP) for Newark youth, which usually runs for 6 weeks starting July, focuses on providing paid work for students accepted into the program. By giving work experiences, college preparedness seminars, and on-the-job-training; various lectures and financial literacy workshops to the youth, the program aims to boost the local community’s college graduation rates.
This 2016, one of the major goals of the SEP was to provide even more job opportunities to the youth, raising the number of available jobs from 3,000 to 3,500. Seawright personally provided more backing by collaborating with two prominent banks, TD Bank and Santander Bank, in providing the students’ financial literacy services.
Kevin Seawright and his whole Newark CEDC team are extremely proud to have been part of such an inspiring and empowering event. It has not just uplifted the whole city, but has given hope to the youth by teaching them how to get ready for their future.
The Newark CEDC CFO believes that it is important for the younger generation to build a solid foundation for financial success. It is vital to teach basic yet necessary skills that will push them forward down the road as soon as they graduate and upon entering the workforce.
Kevin Seawright is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Newark CEDC which is Newark’s chief economic development agency. Previously, he worked for the Departments of Recreation and Parks in Maryland, specializing as its Chief Financial and Facilities Officer. He was a key player in administering over 50 million dollars of funding during his tenure there.
Not only that, Kevin Seawright has held other successful positions including one of the education system’s fiscal management leaders and Collington Life Care Community’s Director of Operations. He is a shining star when it comes administrative and financial operations. He has also demonstrated the abilities of an excellent leader. He is well-known for his expertise and ability to attain success and create more opportunities in any of his business endeavors.
