Jason Halpern is a real estate developer that has operated JMH Development since 2010. The executive is well known in New York where he lives and works in the same building his company is currently converting. JMH Development has maintained their dedication to creating commercial and rental space that is distinctive and luxurious.
Halpern learned the real estate and construction business by following his father around when he was a child. As the third-generation of his family to enter the real estate field, a young Jason attended business meetings and trade shows with his busy father and took numerous construction-related jobs during his teen years. Today, his company has over a half billion invested in projects in New York state as well as additional development deals underway in Miami.
JMH takes commercial property and underutilized buildings and re-purposes them into unique and elegant condos, townhouses and offices. He splits his time between New York and Miami in order to maintain a close eye on all of the projects that are currently in progress. An avid traveler, Halpern enjoys visiting historic buildings and using them as inspiration for future projects.
The loss of his father, Joel, in a powerboat accident when he was 11 is partially why Halpern is so dedicated to his own family. Despite his busy career, Halpern always makes time for his fiancee, Veronika and his son Max from a previous marriage. They often travel with him between New York and Florida in order to enable them to have time together. Halpern keeps his father’s memory alive in many ways. He treasures an old pair of work boots his father used to carry with him for when he toured construction sites and he wears the vintage Patek Phillipe watch that belonged to his father.
Halpern is also a dedicated philanthropist. He donates to numerous causes and is involved in Habitat for Humanity. He uses his construction experience to aid him as he physically contributes his time and knowledge building houses for the organization on annual service trips. In addition, he donates generously to the Joel A. Halpern Trauma Center located at the Westchester Medical Center and provides funding for clean water programs in Ethiopia and Nepal.
Halpern was recently acknowledged as the New England Real Estate Journal Executive of the Month and his completed projects have received numerous accolades from many. His company is expanding rapidly and consistently seeking new projects and inspiration.
